The Hondsbossche Sluis is the historical lock in the center of Zaandam, The Netherlands. After some five ages the lock still functions and is operated by a group of fifty volunteers.<\/p>\n\n\n

Op Goede Vrijdag 3 april 2026 isde sluis weer in bedrijf worden gesteld; de laatste vaardag is de dag na de herfstvakantie, maandag 19 oktober 2026. De jaarkalender 2026 vindt u here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Traditiegetrouw houden we bij wie het eerste door de sluis is gevaren. Dit jaar gaat die eer naar een rondvaartboot van Lovers die op Goede Vrijdag kort voor 10 uur arriveerde. Hij paste er maar net in. Het bootje achter hem moest een schutting wachten…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2025 zijn er 8122 schepen door de sluis gevaren. Dat is ongeveer evenveel als 2024, ondanks het hoge aantal doorgelaten schepen in de dagen van Sail2025: 1542. Op de openingsdag van Sail, 20 augustus 2025, werd een absoluut recordaantal schepen doorgelaten: 379. In het vaarseizoen van 2025 is de sluis slechts 41 dagdelen gesloten geweest omdat het gemaal water moest afvoeren uit Noord-Holland. Maar er waren dit jaar ook andere redenen dat de sluis niet open kon. Door schade aan de sluisdeur zijn we van 9 t\/m 13 augustus 2025 (10 dagdelen) dicht geweest. En op 1 en 2 juli was het zo warm dat schutten voor de sluiswachters onverantwoord was. Al met al hebben waren we 83% van de 330 beschikbare dagdelen open voor doorvaart (in 2024: 66%).
